Sunday Sitdown: Hey Ross Rubin! Anaylze This

August 8th, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags:

searchSo it’s Friday night, I’m getting ready to set ZuneSpring.com on autopilot, but before I can, I decide to take a gander at “Switched On: ZuneForSure”. I think you know, Dear Reader, exactly where this is going. Columnist Ross Rubin digs in deep for this week’s edition of his weekly column. He carefully paints a picture of Microsoft wasting time and money to achieve something It had already managed to do before. It’s an interesting read if I do say so myself. It’s also nearly total BS.

Sunday Sitdown: The Zune Software is ‘Hard’ To Use

June 13th, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags:

Zune Sofware 2

The Zune Software is the stuff legend. In its first iteration it was an epic disaster, a horrible blend of most of Windows Media Player’s core functionality and absolutely none of the current software’s pizzazz. Starting in Zune 2 Microsoft did however bring the A-game and managed to create one of the best damn interfaces available on Windows to date. However in doing so I fear that may have created a problem none of us anticipated.

Sunday Sitdown: Of Chefs and Kitchen Nightmares

May 23rd, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags:

It’s been a month since I’ve found it necessary to do sit-down Sunday, and mostly it’s not because there weren’t any big issues, but mostly because I haven’t been on my game. Nevertheless it’s time to put the running shoes on and get back in the race, so hit the grown running I shall.

Sunday Sitdown: What is Zune?

May 2nd, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags:

With only the summer to go and the excitement for WindowsPhone with Zune integration (or as I like to call it, Zune Phone) building I started thinking this afternoon about what an actual Zune branded experience is and why we should be excited for it.

Sunday Sitdown: Some Bad Ideas are Just Bad Ideas

April 11th, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags: ,

The last couple of weeks I’ve put everyone through some of the longest Sunday Sitdowns the site has ever seen. We’ve talked about issues that pleased some and pissed off a few so this week I wanted to talk about something not of a serious nature. As it turns out it just wouldn’t be a Sunday Sitdown then would it?

Sunday Sitdown: How High?

April 4th, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags: , ,

This week Microsoft got all official on the ZuneHD’s 64gb variant, allowing you to carry loads more music, video, and television shows then you could on any other flash Zune before. Now I know the more jaded of you will tell me that it’s now time for a 128gb Zune, (see we’ve been doing this little run around for too long), but it’s the rest of you I’m curious about.

Sunday Sitdown: Of SDKs and Getting A Grip

March 21st, 2010 by Travis Pope Tags: , ,

Although I think that title pretty much sums up what I’m thinking right now, I’d like to elaborate. Many a Zune user this past two weeks have worked themselves up into a tizzy because their ZuneHDs neither have a Software Development Kit, released by Zune nor are they compatible with Microsoft’s forthcoming XNA 4.0 development framework. While I agree on some sentimental level that those of you who agree with them may have a point I’m sorry to say you are totally and completely off base.

Sunday Sit-down: A New ZuneSpring Begins

February 14th, 2010 by Travis Pope

Those who follow the ZuneSpring on my personal Twitter will know that tomorrow starts a big week for us. First at Mobile World Conference Microsoft is preparing for what could very well be the keynote to make or break Steve Ballmer’s career as well as change the face of both Windows Mobile & Zune alike. Also I’ll be heading to Microsoft’s Redmond Campus for what surely will be one of the most exciting experiences of my life, the MVP Summit. Because of both of these event’s I’ll be taking the week off from my full time job. You know what that means, an entire week to bring ZuneSpring up to where it should be without interference from the real world. Tell me what new areas you would like to see, or where no frontiers you would like us to venture into. I will not stop until this site is the best it can possibly be and that involves each and every person who reads, and enjoys what we do here.

January 24th, 2010 by Travis Pope

 MVP

With the MVP Summit just under a month away, it’s important for to Zune & myself told start getting feedback on just what the community would like to see come out of an update Zune software, Zune Hardware, and Zune Services.

Your opinion counts! I’ll be creating forum topics at ZuneSpring, Zunerama, Zunited, ZuneEgg, and Zunehome, so feel free to post at your favorite forums, or in the comments here. As you guys add to each respective area, I’ll compile them here. Let’s get brainstorming folks!

Sunday Sitdowns: Bad Reviews or Bad Reviewer?

December 27th, 2009 by Travis Pope

Each week we take a look at hot topics & issues surrounding the Zune and other related Microsoft technologies.

Ah Christmas that most pleasant time of year, a time for snow, a time for family, a time for redeeming that most precious of holiday gifts, the gift card! “Hey ya BestBuy.com, let’s see what good Zune deals you’ve got. Read the reviews? Well if you insist.” Trust me the browsing went down hill from there.
